Curriculum and Instruction •  Differentiated materials for kids with IEPs • District wide collaboration • school-wide core reading program with accountability • Pull out schedules for Special Ed. And band • Interventions other than reading • data driven decisions… reading • Support for struggling Students across the curriculum • Differentiated instruction not in place at all levels • ELD/SIOP training • Ability grouping needed • Screening and progress monitoring • Collecting data more frequently on Ss skills • RTI targeting specific skills in which Ss are behind • Kindergarteners are reading • Fidelity in core reading in kindergarten • Power standards for writing and social studies • Better curriculum alignment • District-wide scope and sequence • reduction/elimination of pull outs • making reading top priority • reading grouping aids effective instruction • ability grouping for reading and spelling • research-based RTI materials • grant money for RTI training some materials ongoing support • Behavior • PBS programs at elementary • PBS active at elementary • Discipline procedures improved • Honor roll(5th -7th ) as motivator • PBIS many components in place • Too many playground rules • We need in school suspension- need a solution i.e. pass room • Better discipline program and implementation • Student engagement • Student respect • Behavior challenged students • Enrichment •  Outdoor learning experiences (outdoor school 6th) • TAG improvements Rtec more time • Focus on natural resources district wide • Elective offerings at elementary (drama, technology) • We understand the needs of the students we teach • More access to elective classes • Electives and enrichment • ALT ed options have increased (Nova Net , Indy classes) • Community connections/ involvement ( project fair, literacy night, science night, social studied night) • Extra curricular activity involvement is higher (HQ team, music, math, sports) • Continuum of appropriate placement for high needs students • Teacher Empowerment •  Not enough guidance for new teachers • initiate conversations/thinking /projecting for /about future goals/outcomes desired for Lowell • Need more training ( teachers and assistants) • Lack of accountability • Collaboration among teachers/schools • Need release time for PU/collaboration • good data driven teaching strategies • Staff retention incentives • brighter happier staff room • Teachers are invested in the improvement process • better time management • Enthusiastic hard working staff • PD collaborate w/ ESDto provide curriculum and professional development • Connection to the future • Student led conferences at HS lots of Ss buy in and Ss parent participation • Senior presentations all grade levels observing (Lowell Learning Experience) • Focusing on career awareness in 10th to 12th grades • Focus on something other than schoolwork • The LLE gave more validity to senior projects • Lowell Learning Exp. Forces students to • Student led conferences – attendance at an all time high (over 80%) • Standards too low for LLE • Technology • Increase in technology (thanks Jason) • Technology has improved (VTEC, computer labs, SMART Board) • Increasing students’ use of technology • Growth and Development • Increasing school population • there has been building and grounds improvements • planning for a new facility • improved library access • breakfast and lunch programs • revamp breakfast/ lunch program (less sugar, more nutrition) • Communication • Welcome parents in school • Parental education involvement • Parent notification • Lack of volunteers • Mentoring for new employees • Better communication with others TS • Community involvement toward new/better facilities • Automated phone system is great • More home/school connections • Staff involvement outside the classroom • Lack f trained volunteers • No “student body rep” or teacher at SB meetings • Communication with school board • Attendance
