MESSAGE FROM CAROLYN LOGUE, WLMA’S LOBBYIST “I have been lobbying for over 20 years and have been working with WLMA for 2 years. Your willingness to participate in grassroots advocacy is exemplary and has made you real power players in the education funding debate at the state level. Keep working with parents, your local districts, and your education colleagues to keep the pressure on legislators regarding the importance of school libraries and teacher librarians. You can’t let your guard down!”
WLMA PRIORITIES FOR THE 2011 SESSION • Legislator in the Library – this is an important pre-session activity to make sure your legislators know what you do and its importance. • Watching the budget to help reduce cuts to K-12 education – Be ready to make calls when asked! • Protecting the language making school libraries and teacher-librarians part of a prototype school for funding purposes • Ensuring teacher-librarians are considered key personnel in helping schools achieve standards and goals. Particularly in the appropriate use of technology for both students and teachers in a 21st century learning environment. GRASSROOT IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!
