Hudson-Mohawk Section FYE-14 Status Update: Officers & Support Committee Chairs • (27) -> +4 new volunteers since Spring DLC -> active ASME Senior & Student Section officers & support chairs, in our 94th(!) year of continuous service to the Society, for the geo-region centered at Albany, New York. • ASME-HM has active Student Section Officers we mentor at RPI and Union colleges, and is working to form new student-sections at Hudson Valley Community College, and at SUNY Plattsburgh & Delhi. • Our upstate NY geographic region spans (3) hours drive-time north from Albany to Plattsburgh, and (1.5) hours west to Delhi. • Our Ex-Comm includes newly recruited and ongoing volunteers from GE Power (Turbines) & Research, independent consultants, U.S. Army Research (Benet Labs) / Watervliet Arsenal, NYS Public Service Commission, Albany Nanotech (CNSE), and faculty & students from Rensselaer Polytechnic (RPI's MANE Dept.), Union College and Hudson Valley Community College. • Several of our officers are also active in sister-engineering societies, allowing us to regularly partner & combine resources with AIAA, AEE, VI, STLE, IEEE and others.

Wong) Report -> • Total Membership (633): +70 w/r/t May's Spring DLC Report (3/31/13 MDC Data) / Washington, DC • (298) Renewals: -227 • (299) Unpaid Members: +143 • (6) New Members April-June: -10 • 51% Membership Renewal Rate: -38%
Hudson-Mohawk Section FYE-13 Status Update: (3) Best Events • (1) Annual Scheper-Davies-Sayre Memorial Scholarship Dinner-Speaker Event (May 7th):Recognized outstanding 2nd & 4th year undergrad ME students at RPI, Union & HVCC - as well as Student and Senior Section volunteers - at our combined, Event. Ex-Comm voted to increase scholarships by 60%. Along with students, plaques also publically presented to Howard Brilliant (13-years Distinguished Treasurer Service); Holger Lukas (ASME Fellow). • (2) "Vibo-Rama 2013" (March 21st): All-day, Multi-PDH Course Latham, NY collaboration w/ Vibration Institute & AIAA, featuring distinguished dinner-speaker from NASA-JPL's Planetary Robotics Program, Dr. Randii Wessen, PhD. • (3) "ASME-HM, AIAA & US First Award Competition for High Schools in the ASME Hudson-Mohawk Region" (January 5th):Award presented at Regional US First Kickoff Meeting, Darren Communications Center, RPI's Troy Main Campus. • Many other quality events not mentioned - see our public Calendar of Events archive on our section's ASME.org "Phase-2" (Thanks FYE-14 Webmaster Denes Carpenter!) site: https://community.asme.org/hudson_mohawk_section/w/wiki/6958.calendar.aspx
Hudson-Mohawk Section FY13 Status Update: MBF Score, Spring DLC Goals Status & Future Plans • Hudson-Mohawk's FYE-12 Merit-Based Funding Score: 90%.FYE-13 Chair Reported: 87%. • Working well FYE-13:Collaboration with Student Sections & Well-Funded Sister Societies (Particularly, Union College, AIAA, AEE, IEEE, Local Maker's Chapter, GE Research); Growth in number and activity of Executive Committee volunteers: "fresh-blood" for Ex-Comm succession. • UPDATE: "Two Things We Wish to Accomplish as Section FYE-13":1. Create new Student Section at local community college HVCC (Troy) to help defray student-related event costs : Attempted, but no luck w/ student-volunteer at HVCC; Sponsored-event fundraising may be a better way to go. 2. Have event honoring local ASME Fellows and long-time ASME members: Done! • H-M's Most Significant Challenge FYE-14: SOME PROGRESS MADE FYE-13 -> Recruiting trustworthy & competent volunteers to act as FYE-14 Section Chair, Treasurer and Webmaster (Succession Planning).
