  2. Monumentul este cunoscut, dar interioarele sunt aproape necunoscute, deoarece puțini, reușesc să intre în spațiile interioare. Taj Mahal a fost construit de către Mogulul Shahjahan din India in memoria sotiei sale, Arjumand Banu, care a murit la naștere, în 1629, la vârsta de 36 de ani. A fost, de asemenea, cunoscută sub numele de Mumtaz Mahal (Palatul Alesei).Durerea lui Shahjahan a fost atât de mare încât el a decis să ridice un monument demn de patrimoniul său, care sa nu mai fie egalat de nimic. Taj Mahal a fost construit in 22 de ani, iar construcția sa a implicat aproximativ 20.000 de lucrători. Construit în conformitate cu planurile a 2 arhitecți, unul unul venețian și altul francez. Nici un nume specific nu este cunoscut.Monumentul este construit din marmură, care a fost transportată de la o carieră aflată la o distanță de 300 km.
