Abstracts • Know your conferences • TEPHINET • Global Scientific Conference • Every 2 years; last 2010 in Cape Town, South Africa • Regional TEPHINET Conferences • Alternate years from Global Scientific Conference • EIS International Night • Yearly; April in Atlanta, usually Wed. night • Other Conferences • ICEID-International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases, every 2 years • ESCAIDE-European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology, annual • ASTMH-American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, annual • APHA-American Public Health Association, annual • IEA-International Epidemiological Association, regional and international meetings • Know your deadlines • All abstracts that include a CDC author must be cleared at both Branch and Division levels • Submit early, leave time for clearance and cross-clearance (if required) & abstract revision • Med Epi in Regional Teams are able to review and comment; this will help to facilitate Branch clearance
Scientific/Medical Journal Publications • Consider and choose journals for submission carefully; consult with others; prepare the submission for the journal that is selected • In order to submit articles for scientific clearance at CDC, you must have Dual Use Research (DUR) certification and a DUR #; all RAs need DUR cert • Access DUR training thru HHS Learning Portal, https://lms.learning.hhs.gov/; search course offerings for DUR • Articles for journals are submitted for CDC clearance thru eClearance/Documentum; https://publishing.cdc.gov • Guidance on using eClearance/Documentum; http://knowledgeshare.cdc.gov/04._Applications/eClearance/Training/Documentum_-_Webtop_6.5_What's_New • Ask Med Epi in Regional Teams to review and comment on scientific articles prior to submission for clearance; value-added
