We learned that a thesis is the main idea of a paper; while that is true, it is time to add a little more to our idea of a thesis. A thesis is the main idea of a paper or essay; it must be something arguable. “The Yellow Wallpaper explores the role of women in society” is not a thesis because no one could reasonably contradict it. “The Yellow Wallpaper blames the main character for her own madness” is a thesis because someone could contradict it. Write a thesis and an introduction paragraph on the topic “The Importance of Email.” Your thesis must make an arguable claim. June 8, 2010
