  1. Recent LowBeta Optics Studies Searching for a black cat in a dark room where the cat does not exist Valishev Tevatron Dept. Meeting 1/23/2009

  2. CDF/D0 Luminosity Over One Month 1/23/09

  3. CDF/D0 Luminosity vs. D* @D0 Now D*CDF=0.8 D*D0=2.8 cm

  4. CDF/D0 Luminosity Ratiovs. b* @D0 Now b*CDF=28.3 -> b*D0 would be 30.5 cm (Model gives 34.2 – 9% lumi)

  5. Beam Size on proton Helix @ D0 (Model) Measured Optics 1/13 Proposed Correction 1/16

  6. Attempted Correction Store 6745 1/20/09

  7. Possible Causes of Deviation from Predicted Behavior • The model b* is correct on the proton helix, but there is large difference on pbar helix. We have no accurate map of nonlinearities. • There is a systematic error in the model. Primary suspect is the FF quad roll representation.

  8. Model Check

  9. Summary • Attempt to correct the D0 b* based on the model prediction assuming that the primary cause is FF quad roll did not work. • This is the first time the relative model-predicted change fails – interesting! • Now running some consistency checks to verify the model using existing data.
