It is very important that you take time to carefully consider all of your course options for next year. • Filling out this form correctly is an important first step. There will not be many opportunities for you to make changes once the form is submitted. • In early spring, you will receive a preview copy of your schedule for next year. Put your best paw forward!
CHOOSE YOUR CLASSES WISELY Our classes will be very full, which will mean few schedule changes in the fall. Give careful attention to your choices now so you can get the classes you want and need. The majority of our classes are full year, plan wisely!
CORE CONTENT CLASSES Now we are going to look in-depth at the 5 core content area class options: Social Studies English Fitness & Health Math Science
ENGLISH Washington 4-year public and private colleges require you have 4 years of English. WWU 4 years required Gonzaga 4 years required UW 4 years required EWU 4 years required WSU 4 years required
ENGLISH 4.0 Credits Required (including English 9) Pre-AP & AP courses have required Summer Assignments Pre-AP English 10 or English 10 10 AP Language & Composition or English 11 11 AP Literature & Composition or English 12: College Prep or English 12: Creative Writingor English 12: Mythology 12
SOCIAL STUDIES There is no 10th grade Social Studies requirement, but there are elective options you can take to earn AP credit. All Washington 4-year public and private colleges require you have 3 years of Social Studies. MATH All Washington 4-year public and private colleges require you to go through at least Algebra II, and prefer that you have completed Pre-Calculus or Calculus. SCIENCE Most 4-year colleges require you to take 1-2 years of an “Algebra-based Science” in your junior and/or senior year. The courses with an * on the next slide satisfy that requirement. FINE & PERFORMING ARTS 1.0 credits required for graduation and most 4 year colleges. Some colleges may require more. Includes Fine Arts, Music, and Performing Arts such as Drama and Drill Team. All Fine & Performing Arts classes are full year (2 semesters)

RUNNING START 11th/12th grade only: If you are considering Running Start there will be lunch meetings in March to get information. On the top of the registration form, select the Running Start option you are considering. You will have to apply for Running Start, so you must still complete the LC registration form as if you will be attending classes at LC next year.
SVL & ICAN If you want to take an SVL class, please write the specific class on your registration form. YOU will still need to register for the class on SVL’s website (www.spokanevirtual.com). If you need to make up a credit, and want to do it in ICAN, write a note on your registration form.
