OBJECTIVES to collect information on population and housing stock in 2010 prepare latest basic data for bench marking, planning as well as to measure the National Mission achievements inputs for the formulation of government policies and programmes the next Development Plan being 10th Malaysia Plan in 2011.
SCOPE AND COVERAGE Covers every persons who reside in the country. Approach – de jure where all persons are enumerated according to their usual place of residence Usual – 6 months or more in year 2010

Data dissemination programme included several strategies namely: a. Published data b. Unpublished data • Published data can be obtained in publication form or CD-ROM • Non-published data can be obtained through request either through letters, e-mail, request forms at website, telephone or visit to the Department Data Dissemination
Data also disseminated as two percent sample data, Atlas, database and monographs. • The census data were also disseminated through the department’s website www.statistics.gov.my • In general, the census reports were divided into two i.e. a. Preliminary report (Phase 1) b. Final report (Phase 2) Dissemination (2)
