  3. Orbiters • Transport the Landers to Mars • locate and certify landing sites • Act as a communications relays for the Landers • based on the earlier Mariner 9 spacecraft • Octagon shaped

  4. Face on Mars • Fist thought to be an alien monument • Picture taken by viking 1 • Just a rock formation with a angled shadow
