Becoming Eligible-Athletic(All must be met before starting practice) • Enrolled Student (No early graduates) • Physical/Alternate Year Card • Complete the Impact Testing (baseline concussion testing). This is done every other year. • Signed Parent-Participant Code Agreement Both student and parent signatures are required. • Signed Concussion Waiver Note:State Law requires a signed Concussion form for each athletic season • Participation Fee When these requirements are met you will receive your Viking Eligibility Card from the office. You will not be allowed to begin practice without this Card.

Co-Curricular HandbookWho must comply? • Co-Curricular Handbook sanctioned activities • Including: • Student Interscholastic Athletics • Student Performances • Student Representatives • Student Enrichment Clubs • Student Service Clubs
Maintaining Eligibility • Academic • All participants, including managers, must be passing all courses to remain eligible. • Attendance • Students must attend an entire day of classes (a suspended student may not participate on suspension days). • No parent excuses allowed on contest/activity days. If a students arrives at school more than 15 minutes late or is more that 15 minutes late for any class, she/he is ineligible that evening. • If you are ill during the school day, you may not participate in an after school contest/activity. • Unexcused/unverified absences must be cleared before participation, or a 1 game/event suspension will be enforced for each absence.
Academic Eligibility • Student must be passing all classes to be eligible to participate in contests/activities. • Weekly Progress Monitor • Starting 4th Wednesday of each quarter. • Failing grade (first week) = probation • Failing grade (second week) = ineligible Note – Check your grades regularly in Infinite Campus
Quarter / Semester Grades • One or Two Failing Grades • No participation in contests/activities for two calendar weeks. • Students should continue with practices. • Grades posted on Wednesday go into effect for the next Monday though Saturday.
Quarter / Semester Grades • Three or More Failing Grades • Ineligible until next quarter/semester grades. • No practices or contests/activities.
Conduct and Eligibility • Conduct Rules are in effect for twelve months. • Code of Conduct Violations • Rule 1 Unlawful Conduct • Rule 2 Illegal Substances • Rule 3 Attendance at Gatherings • Rule 4 Inappropriate Student Conduct
Consequences Tier 1 Consequences Rule 1 Unlawful Conduct Rule 2 Illegal Substances • 25% of games/events suspension for athletes • 30 day suspension for activities • Ineligibility of all Homecoming/Prom Court (1 year from violation) • Ineligible for Special Awards • Other as determined by the Activities Principal
Consequences Tier 2 Consequences Rule 3 Gathering Attendance / Hosting Rule 4 Inappropriate Conduct Hosting a gathering where drugs or alcohol are present will result in loss of co-curricular privileges for One calendar year. • Up to 25% of games/events suspension. • Other as determined by the Activities Principal
Student Travel • MHASD provides student travel. • Emergency Travel – Appendix C • Form must be given to advisor/coach • Students will not be allowed to leave an away event with parents other than their own.
Sportsmanship • Everyone is responsible for good sportsmanship • Negative sportsmanship issues are made very public and reflect on a school districts overall reputation • One person of character impacts a team, one team of character impacts a school, one school of character can change a community
