  3. What is the purpose of the group? • Identify the issue that needs to be addressed • Clearly define this issue

  5. Who are the Stakeholders? Individuals or organizations that have investment in the content of a program, or in the dissemination and evaluation of a program (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1999)

Why Involve Stakeholders? • To develop a shared vision of what would be possible with the collaborative effort • To develop key goals and desired outcomes for the work • To build on the collective strengths of those involved • To increase the capacity of the group to achieve the identified goals • To reduce conflict

Identifying Stakeholders • Key Questions: • Who are the individuals involved in this particular issue? • Youth • Parents • Other Community members • Which organizations are involved with this issue including both non-profit and businesses? • Hospitals • Nurses • Faith-based organizations • Local media • Which governmental organizations are involved with this issue? • Schools • Department of Health • Human Services

  10. Questions to be Asked • What degree of involvement do each of these organizations have with this particular issue? • Who within a particular organization should participate? • What can each group bring to resolving and or supporting this particular issue?
