  1. UK production plans Ian Wilmut

  2. Basic assumptions • 2 stave construction sites planned in the UK (module to stave) • 4 module build sites planned (Birmingham, Liverpool, Cambridge, RAL) • Maximum stave build rate expected 2 staves per site per week • Module supply does not need to be 100% UK • Long or short strip only • No more than two stave types built in UK • Presume maximum 2 year build programme • All of the above implies maximum stave build of ~400 staves (80% of barrel)

  3. Infrastructure for maximum production rate • Stave core production: • Assume 3 year build as this can start during sensor ASIC production run • 3 cores a week – fully tested • Mounting: • Need to mount one side of modules per day (per site), one mounting jig • Stave Bonding: • Need to bond one side per day (per site), one bonder dedicated to stave bonding. • Testing: • Total throughput needs to be 2 staves a week (i.e. ~1 per day), this probably implies 2-4 testing stations per site with cooling, DAQ, etc. • Storage and shipping: • With above numbers it is hard to imagine less than one stave box per stave . Modules will not need one box per module though. • Staff: • TBD • Space: • TBD
