Discrimination By: Madison Smith & Serena Lor
What is discrimination? • Discrimination is the treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit.
What are the different types of discrimination? Discrimination can occur in various grounds such as: • Race or skin color • Religion or belief • Gender • Disabilities and chronic illness • Political opinions • Homo-sexuality
What causes discrimination? • Discrimination is caused by a number of reasons, one of which is learned behavior. If you grew up seeing discrimination practiced by your parents, you will probably follow the same.
What can we do to stop discrimination? • Stopping discrimination is not always easy. Some of us choose not to address discrimination when it happens, but rather we sometimes choose to avoid discrimination. Speak up against injustice. Injustice happens in other countries, in other states and still in our own backyards. No matter what kind of social, environmental, racial, legal, economic or other forms of injustice, use your voice to name the problem and begin to create change. Make intentional choices to end discrimination every day.
