Microsoft Word • Objectives: • To go over & become familiar with: • Page Setup, Toolbars, Fonts, Wordart, Clipart, Textboxes, Tables, Columns, Templates, Webpages---and Comments if we have time.
Page Setup • Click the File menu, then Page Setup
You will see the four tabs across the top: Margins, Paper Size, Paper Source, and Layout
Toolbars • By clicking on View, Toolbars--you can add/take away toolbars to your window
Fonts • You can use any number of fonts that come with Word, or you can go out and download your own fonts. 1001 Free Fonts Absolute Fonts Archive Times New Roman 24 Arial 24 Frosty Hans solo
Word Art • If the Drawing toolbar isn’t displayed, make sure that you display that toolbar • View, Toolbars, Drawing

Clip Art • Clip art can be found within Word or at Clips Online
You can type in something to search for • OR • Click on a category
Textboxes • Textboxes can be used for captions to pictures
I’ve changed the textbox shading and border • Take note how the text wraps around the picture and the textbox
Tables • Tables are great for organizing data • Press the insert table button and choose the size table you want
Columns • Columns are used when you are wanting to do something in the style of a newsletter or a newspaper
Templates • There are some great templates online • Things that are premade—not reinventing the wheel http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx
Here is a sample of templates for education,teachers, lesson materials • Be sure to only download those that are compatible
Webpages • A Word document can be saved as an HTML document which will make it web ready
Comments • Comments can be added to a document • Maybe you have suggestions for a student • Or note to self
Highlighting • Highlighting can be used to show students specific areas that need improvement
