  1. Microsoft Word • Objectives: • To go over & become familiar with: • Page Setup, Toolbars, Fonts, Wordart, Clipart, Textboxes, Tables, Columns, Templates, Webpages---and Comments if we have time.

  2. Page Setup • Click the File menu, then Page Setup

  3. You will see the four tabs across the top: Margins, Paper Size, Paper Source, and Layout

  4. Toolbars • By clicking on View, Toolbars--you can add/take away toolbars to your window

  5. Fonts • You can use any number of fonts that come with Word, or you can go out and download your own fonts. 1001 Free Fonts Absolute Fonts Archive Times New Roman 24 Arial 24 Frosty Hans solo

  6. Word Art • If the Drawing toolbar isn’t displayed, make sure that you display that toolbar • View, Toolbars, Drawing

  8. Clip Art • Clip art can be found within Word or at Clips Online

  9. You can type in something to search for • OR • Click on a category

  10. Or click Clips Online to have access to bunches more stuff

  11. Textboxes • Textboxes can be used for captions to pictures

  12. I’ve changed the textbox shading and border • Take note how the text wraps around the picture and the textbox

  13. Tables • Tables are great for organizing data • Press the insert table button and choose the size table you want

  14. The table has been inserted

  15. Columns • Columns are used when you are wanting to do something in the style of a newsletter or a newspaper

  16. I chose 2 columns

  17. Templates • There are some great templates online • Things that are premade—not reinventing the wheel http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx

  18. Gives you lots of templates for ALL Office products

  19. Here is a sample of templates for education,teachers, lesson materials • Be sure to only download those that are compatible

  20. Webpages • A Word document can be saved as an HTML document which will make it web ready

  21. Comments • Comments can be added to a document • Maybe you have suggestions for a student • Or note to self

  22. Arrow over the highlighted word to see comment pop up

  23. Highlighting • Highlighting can be used to show students specific areas that need improvement
