  2. “Personal Reign” Reign: March 27,1625 – 30 January 1649(23 years, 309 days)

  3. “Major Accomplishments” King forced to sign Petition of Rights. This was an accomplishment of Parliament.

  4. “Wars” Charles vs. Parliament Conflict over tax money. After he fired Parliament , Charles was arrested and killed.

  5. “Religion” Charles 1st was an Anglican. There are many Puritans in Parliament who didn’t like the Anglican church. This was a source of conflict.

  6. “Family” The second son of Iames VI of Scotland and Anne of Denmark, Charles was born in Dunferm line Palace, Fife, on 19 November 1600. His paternal grandmother was Mary, Queen of Scots.

  7. “Death & Legacy” He died in 30 january 1649 (aged 48). After him the monorchy in England never had his much power. Now Parliament has a power.

  8. ‘My Choice” “English Civil War” • . . Following futile negotiations, Charles raised the royal standard in Nottingham on August 22 1642. • . The Royalists rose in July 1648 igniting the Second Civil War and as agreed with Charles the Scots invaded England.

  9. “My Choice” The "Long Parliament“] • The Long Parliament assembled in November 1640 under the leadership of John Pym, and proved just as difficult for Charles as the Short Parliament. • The tension was heightened when the Irish rebelled against Protestant English rule and rumours of Charles's complicity reached Parliament. • The botched arrest attempt was politically disastrous for Charles.
