  1. A regional network of health and social service providers whose aim is to improve access to services in English. Network unit consists of 35 partners including CSSS, Eastern Township School Board, Community Groups. Partners for Health & Social Services – Estrie Network

  2. A community-based network. We promote the improvement, development, and accessibility of health and social services based on the needs of the English-speaking community in the region. Through collaboration among services providers, community organizers and individuals, we aim to inform and empower our community. Mission

Challenges to Building Network • Building trust among community organizations and CSSS • Members compete for territory; fear of duplicating services • Previous professional and personal experiences affecting ability to work together collaboratively • Health issues are complex. Challenge to stay focused. • Health care system has been changing • Difficulty responding to opposition and criticism • Challenge to define specific, achievable, and measurable objectives when building a long-term functioning network

Success with partnerships and programs. • Excellent rapport with English-speaking liaison at the Agence in Estrie • Very good relations with CSSS Memphrémagog and CSSS Val-Saint-François. • Improved relationships with community groups in network and developing relationships with two other CSSS. • Have developed and funded several community based programs that improved relationships and access to services for the ESC. • Building long-term outreach program and partnership with CSSS Memphrémagog

  17. Lessons learned • Do a lot of ground work and consulting before clarifying network objectives • Focus on development of relationships before building network • Don’t try to build the network too quickly; start with baby steps and build up • Relationship with CSSS personnel a necessity • Training/workshops important (conflict resolution) ***** • Access to funding has eased the road
