Public Health Partners Marty Magee National Network/Libraries of Medicine MidContinental Region 800-338-7657
Objectives • Gain a deeper understanding of the public health workforce and their training needs • Review PHPartners • Organize and deliver public health resources so they are easier to find and use. • Increase the visibility of the partnership with librarians and the public health workforce. • Increase the information literacy of the public health workforce.
Why? Most LHD professionals do not have formal public health training. Most LHDs are unable to provide support or incentives for current staff to obtain the formal public health training that would increase the quality of the workforce. Most LHDs cannot provide pay increases or other incentives to staff who obtain additional public health training or degrees.Institute of Medicine 2003
