Coming to North America: Canadian Connection • What’s going on in North America during the time period of the trans-Atlantic trade in African peoples? • Canada was not a country yet (not til 1867)…so it was held by British and French (depending on the area) • “New France” and “British North America” would include parts of Canada as we now know it
