  2. Why Have Art? • Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship. • Psalm 145:10 All that you have made will praise you, O Lord; your saints will extol you.

  3. Art-What and Why? • What? The conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects. (Merriam Webster Dictionary-1995) • Why? Art adds interest to academic classes and beauty to your room and the school. It gives moms things to save-Memories!

  4. Kid’s Artistic comments • Kindness is extra art • As way of thanking me • One drew me lots of cartoon characters • One drew pictures with memories • Cards • “I really enjoy art class with you.” • “It’s fun to draw when you read to us.” • Booklet filled with their art and thanks

  5. Art Adds • Practice in planning an outcome • Attention to detail • Opportunities for constructive criticism • Student interaction • Fine motor skill development • Responsibilty practice

  6. Why do we “forget the art”? • No desire for the mess • No materials • No time • No ideas or plan • No ability • Other

  17. Hallway or Bulletin Board Group Projects • Enlarge a design with an overhead, trace • Have the students paint it

  18. Stained Glass Windows • Have the students draw a simple design. • Cut out two layers of the design. • Use colored celophane to fill in the design. We taped the edges on the inside so they did not show.

  19. Use a simple design, add outlines of various colors of chalk.

  20. Use words to outline shapes • Use a hymn or Bible verse with religious symbols • Leaf shapes-Use fall watercolors, then fill in the veins with all related words or adjectives
