SUMMARY • 9th February: Off road ride from Blaydon to Hownsgill cafe and return. • 26th-28th April: Training Camp weekend based in Berwick. • 25th-27th May: W2W Challenge weekend. • 14th July: Track session at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Glasgow.
9TH FEBRUARY • Meet at 09:45 for a prompt 10:00 departure. • Meeting point Blaydon Rugby Club Car park. Congregate cars and riders outside Fit4less gym. • Route is all off road so mountain or cross bikes are appropriate. • Distance is approximately 30 miles in total. • All riders welcome. Under 12 year old should be accompanied by an adult. • Remember to bring money for cafe stop and dress appropriately!
26th-28th April • Based out of Berwick Youth Hostel. • Arrive late afternoon 26th April. • Several road routes will be available on Saturday 27th to cater for variation in rider capability. • Depart midday 28th. • Riders 12 and over must have capability to L2 bikeability standards. • Riders under 12 must have the above capability and be accompanied by an adult. • Riders who’s birthday is before 26th April 2003 will not be eligible to join us this year.
25th-27th May • Three day ride departing at 09:30 prompt from Walney Island. • Day 1 ride to Tebay for overnight stop. Distance 61 miles. • Day 2 ride to Barnard Castle for overnight stop. Distance 40 miles. • Day 3 ride to Roker to finish. Distance 45 miles. • Route is primarily on Sustrans tracks and minor roads. There is some gentle off road and terrain is pretty hilly! • Riders eligibility is as for the Berwick training camp. • Coaching team will have final decision on whether they believe an individual rider is capable of completing the ride.
25th-27th May • Route passes through Hetton Lyons Country Park. • For younger riders and those who cannot commit to multiple days away, there will be an opportunity to join us for the last 20 miles from Hetton to Roker.
26th-27th May • For older, experienced riders we will be doing the same W2W route in 2 days. • Departure at 10:00 from Walney Island. • Day 1 ride to Kirkby Stephen for overnight stop. Distance 73 miles. • Day 2 ride to Roker to finish. Distance 73 miles. • Meet up with 3 day riders before finish.
14th July • Minimum age limit is 8 years old. • Separate session also arranged for adults. • Start of session is 15:00 and finish at 17:00. • Coach and equipment all provided.
Attendee Numbers • 9th February: All welcome. • April: Maximum 50 depending on age and gender of applicants. • May: Maximum 35 on 3 day ride, depending on age and gender of applicants. • Maximum 10 on 2 day ride, depending on age of applicants. • July: Maximum 15 youth/junior riders and 15 adult riders.
Costs • 9th February: Depends on how much you eat at the cafe! • April: £65 per person. Includes 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast. • May: 3 day ride, £65 per person. Includes 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast. • 2 day ride, £30 per person. Includes bed and breakfast. • July: £12 per rider.
Discounts Available for Berwick and W2W • For families (3 or more) attending one event, a £5 per person discount will apply reducing cost to £60 per person. • For riders attending both 3 day weekends, cost will be reduced to £110 per person. • For riders attending training camp and 2 day W2W, cost will be reduced to £75 per person.
Signing Up • For the 9th Feb social ride......don’t worry we’ll see you in the car park, just don’t be late. • Riders wishing to attend either one or both of the April and May events should sign up and pay a 20% deposit on or before Saturday 2nd March. • Application forms will be available on the club website by 9th February. • Event sign on will take place once each Saturday coaching has started. Dougie McAllister will organise. This should ensure no confusion with coaching sign on. • Riders wishing to attend the track session should submit a completed application form. No deposit will be required. • It is likely that the track will be over subscribed and a lottery required to select riders.
KEY TMINGS • Membership renewal due 31st March 2013. • Reminders of renewal will be issued today and 2nd March. • Emails will be posted to all members and a notice posted on the club website. • Payments by either cheque or cash will be accepted from 23rd March and every Saturday thereafter until 11th May. Also a possibility for bank transfer. • Members who have not renewed by 11th May will cease to be members and have to re-apply via a waiting list. • After 11th May current waiting list will be invited to join membership program. • Riders attending April training camp must have renewed prior to 26th April.
