About the School Strabane Grammar School is a controlled co- educational and non-denominational grammar school. It is situated just outside Strabane It nestles in 23 acres of very attractive wooded grounds A relatively small school, where everyone is known, it caters most effectively for the needs of pupils aged 11 to 19 from all social and religious backgrounds
Subjects Studied • In years 13 and 14 pupils can choose subjects from a range of GCE AS levels, A2 levels, Applied GCEs and Key Skills. The following is a list of subjects currently being offered: Art & Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Information & Communication Technology, English Literature, French, Geography, German, History, Home Economics, Health and Social Care, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education/Sports Studies, Physics, Religious Studies and Technology & Design. Childcare, Engineering and Media Studies are also offered as Advanced VCEs.
Our Uniform • Our uniform consists of a dark blue blazer, white shirt and a blue/grey/red tie. • The girls wear a grey skirt and jumper. • The boys wear dark grey or black trousers. • In Sixth Year, the boys wear a blue shirt and red tie, and the girls wear a blue shirt without a tie.

European Studies Meal • Our European studies group goes out for a meal to celebrate at the end of the school year. • We really enjoy the food and the craic, especially when all our exams are over.

European Day of Languages Junior pupils enjoying language taster classes from our two assistants. The French Assistante taught Mandarin, and the German Assistante taught Spanish.
Strabane • Strabane is the main town in a district which also has a number of smaller towns and villages. • It is situated in the North West of County Tyrone and beside the River Mourne. • Strabane is the civic and economic heart of the district and is a town which compares favourably with any other in Northern Ireland.
Culture Of Strabane • Strabane is 14.9 miles away from the city of Londonderry. • It is 74 miles away from the city of Belfast. • It is surrounded by many small towns and villages; these • include: • Castlederg • Sionmills • Ardstraw • Newtownstewart • Ballymagorry
Culture Of Strabane • Commerce and industry are important components of the town’s infrastructure. • A new ASDA store has brought many new job opportunities to the town. • A new retail centre has recently opened close to the new ASDA store. • The new Alley Theatre reflects the town’s growth and improved prosperity. This creates the opportunity for theatre and musical events. • Our school used the Alley Theatre as the venue of our annual ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ show.
Nightlife • Katy Daly’s is a very popular night spot for young people, looking for a bit of craic. • “The Farmers” is a local “watering hole” for 6th Formers and past pupils. • Lifford Cinema across the river is very popular • For greater variety, people go to Omagh or Derry for a really good night out! • Donegal, especially Letterkenny, is very popular at weekends.
