  2. Shakespeare’s Works • There are 39 plays written by Shakespeare that we know of today. • William Shakespeare is best known today for his plays, but his poetry skills and poems were much more defining to his career as a writer.

  3. Macbeth • In eleventh century Scottish history, there was a large amount of violence and terror caused around the country. • He also came upon stories of wizards and witches, that left the public in awe. • This gave him the idea to write a play about this topic so he could draw in a crowd and give the audience a fantastic amount of amusement.

  5. The Order of the Phoenix • The phoenix usually is a male in mythological stories, however Shakespeare eludes at one point for it being a female in the poem • It gave the turtledove a female friend in the phoenix

Poem Analysis • This poem is allegorical • It is about the death of love • It has a lot of contradicting works in it • It is considered one of Shakespeare’s most • obscure works as a poet • It is known as “the first great metaphysical poem” • It was not given a name and was later given, • “The Phoenix and the Turtle”

Hamlet • Hamlet is one of the most popular of Shakespeare's plays for readers and theater audiences. • This popular type of play centered on a heroic figure • Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, is on a quest for vengeance. His fathers murder made his uncle Claudius the king. • Hamlet is not only one of Shakespeare’s most popular works, but also his most puzzling. • There is a ghost that appears towards the end which leaves many questions about the story. • There are many theories to what the ghost is. No one knows for sure. • Shakespeare is thought to have written Hamlet in 1599–1601.

  10. Summary All in all Shakespeare is an odd writer in every sense of the way. He is known as a great poet today if not the best ever. It is hard sometimes to understand what he means, but that just adds to the illusion he creates with every one of his works. His plays are still being read today all over. He is read second only to the Bible in English speaking countries today which makes him a beyond memorable writer. And he described himself ,”Better a witty fool than a foolish wit.”
