Characteristics • Deserts have very few trees. • Deserts are very, very dry places. • Deserts can be harmful and there is one called “Death Valley”. • Some deserts get less than ten inches of rain a year. • Deserts are more than one-hundred degrees. • At night the temperature goes down to the 40’s and the 50’s.

  3. Location • Deserts are found all over the world but mostly in Africa and Asia.

  4. Plant Life • Elf Owls make there homes in kinds of cacti. • Animals get their water from cacti or other animals. • The Saguaro Cactus is the widest and tallest cactus in the world.

  5. Animal Life • Meerkats build their homes in the ground. • A tarantula waits to go out at night to keep cool. • An Addax is a type of desert mammal.
