Clay Dunkin • Wife died 2 days before he was diagnosed with Lewybody Disease • She was killed by her crazy uncle who had a secret love for Clay • Clay is 76 years old and 5’4 • He is involved in a elderly Hockey League where they encourage fighting • He is very jolly like Santa • He loves Dunkin Donuts • His favorite color is orange • He has a cat named Microwave

  3. Symptoms • Changes in alertness and attention • Hallucinations • Problems with movement and posture • Muscle stiffness • Confusion • Loss of memory

  4. Diagnosis It can only be diagnosed by an autopsy but if a doctor knows symptoms really well you can diagnose it with a brain scan and you can’t actually see the lewybodies

  5. Region of Brain Affected • Lewy bodies are found throughout the outer layer of the brain (the cerebral cortex) and deep inside the midbrain and brainstem. They are often found in those diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Down syndrome and other disorders.

  6. Treatments • While there is no cure at present for the disease, doctors may prescribe medication for its symptoms. Treatment are mostly for controlling motor and psychiatric problems associated with it, including hallucinations and depression.

  7. Prognosis • Memory loss • Hear voices and hallucinations • Death after 8 years • 2nd most common disease after alzheimers

  8. Error In communication • Memory is involved with the frontal lobe and hippocampus so the lewy bodies are located on the neurons and the proteins form a gunk and then it spreads causing that part of the brain to not work.
