Introduction You and a few friends have decided that you all have to get away from Carrollton for a few days this summer. You can’t wait to vacate this town! The only decisions left be made is where to goand a few other minor but very important details.
Task You have been working hard and have earned $3,000 for this trip, but spend it wisely. Decide who will travel with you and use the internet, find transportation, a hotel, food, and activities for you awesome vacation. Do not forget to have money for your way back home and a few souvenirs.
Process 1. You will be divided into groups of 4 so decide who you want to travel with and start planning your dream trip. Discuss where your fellow group members have traveled before and where they wish to travel in the future. As a group, brainstorm and make a final decision on where you plan to travel for this project. 2. Your group will navigate the internet as you search for the perfect and affordable vacation.

Process (continued) • Create a Powerpoint presentation to show your destination, transportation, hotel accommodations, food, and activities. During the trip planning you will need to keep a balance of how much money you are spending to make sure you have enough. • If funds start running low, you may have to reflect on some of your decisions and think about making changes in your travel ideas.
Process (continued) • 5. Include a travel itinerary (your daily schedule) and budget for the trip. Use these tools to determine your expenses. • 6. Research photos of your destination and include them in Powerpoint. • 7. As a group, be prepared to share your presentation with the class and be ready to answer questions about destination.

This is not what your group’s budget will look like.
Conclusion • Will you be able to take your dream vacation? • Have you have learned about what it takes to plan a vacation and how important it is to stick to a budget. • Your itinerary will ensure that you have the best vacation experience ever! • After each group has completed their presentation, the class will discuss which cites were valuable resources for travel and what kind of barriers were encountered while working as a group on the project.
Conclusion (continued) • Go home and hug your family and thank them for all do for you (and maybe you can talk them into going on one of the cool trips you discovered in Mrs. Young’s math class!)
