Time Signatures • In a time signature, the top number tells you how many beats are in each measure and the bottom number tells you which note gets the beat.
2/4 = 2 beats in the measure, and the gets the beat. • 3/4 = 3 beats in the measure, and the gets the beat. • 4/4 = 4 beats in the measure, and the gets the beat.
6/8 = 6 beats in a measure, and the gets the beat. • In 2/2 (also known as cut time) = 2 beats in a measure, and the gets the beat.
