Vulnerable Kids In 2006, 14 percent of children in underdeveloped countries died before their fifth birthday. Over 80 percent of these deaths were preventable. Thousands of kids die each day from hunger and treatable diseases – poverty the underlying cause.
Kids: The Life and Soul of Their Communities Kids and the church are the strongest assets a community possesses, but they are also the most vulnerable. Under the loving nurture of local churches, however, thousands of kids are the center of transformation in their communities.

Real Kids Meet Mimi: • Mimi is an 8-year-old Burmese girl. • Her parents were forced to flee Myanmar because they were persecuted for their Christian faith. • Mimi’s family arrived in the Clarkston community near Atlanta in June 2007 as refugees. • Her best friend is from Cuba. • She has an older brother and a baby sister. • She teaches her parents English words and sometimes translates for them.
Real Kids Meet Zuberi • Zuberi is an 8-year-old Burundian boy. • He was born in a refugee camp in Tanzania during the violent civil war in Burundi. • When his family moved back to Burundi, they started over with nothing. • He has seven brothers and sisters and he helps his parents grow bananas, beans and cassava. • He loves to play soccer and handball.
