SIG BIOINFORMATICS New ACM SIG Organization: Special Interest Group on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics (SIGBioinformatics, January 2011) The scope: International community for interactions among researchers, educators and practitioners in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Informatics.
Current term: 2011-2014Chair: Aidong ZhangVice Chair: Tekin OzsoyogluSecretary - Treasurer: Armin R. Mikler Officers SIGBioinformatics' officers are the Chair, the Vice-Chair, and Secretary- Treasurer. The officers are elected for three-year terms beginning July 1 of election years. Election plan: Currently, all officers are appointed. It is our plan to run the election in 2013.
Current Status SIG Bioinformatics has 151 members. Two issues of Bioinformatics news letter have been published. BCB 2010 and BCB 2011 have been successfully completed We are actively recruiting new members through participation in SIG activities: • Annual Conference (BCB) • ACM Tech-Pack for Bioinformatics • News Letter (SIGBioinformatics Record) • Journal (Transactions) • Conference Partnership/Sponsorship
