  3. Amazing Words • Fitness- good physical shape • Isaac’s fitness was better than Gary’s. • Aspire- to desire something earnestly • I aspire to be a doctor. • TEACH YOUR PARTNER THESE WORDS

  4. Vocabulary • Bluish- somewhat blue • Her lips were bluish from the cold. • Cartwheels- perform such a handspring • She can do three cartwheels in a row. Teach your partner these words.

  5. Vocabulary • gymnastics- exercises developing agility and coordination • The gymnastics team won the competition. • hesitation- the action of pausing • He stuttered with his hesitation to talk in front of others. • Teach your partner these words.

  6. Vocabulary • Limelight- the focus of public attention • Frank loved being in the limelight. • Skidded- slip, slide • The dog skidded to a stop. Teach your partner these words.

  7. Vocabulary • Wincing- give a slight involuntary grimace • Paul stopped wincing when the doctor came in. • Teach your partner this word.

  8. Spelling • Prefix in-, il-, im- and ir- all mean “not” • Remember to think about the word in parts • Write the prefix, then think about the base word, write it carefully • Thinking about each of the parts, helps us understand unknown words

  9. Suffix –ion, -ish • Education collection instruction • Suffix –ion can be used to change verbs into nouns • To educate—the education • To collect- the collection • Sheepish childish babyish boyish • Suffix –ish is used to form adjectives from nouns and other adjectives

  10. Who and Whom Use whom as the object of the preposition such as to, for, or from. The cake was eaten by whom? The letter came from whom? Use whom as a direct object in formal writing. You called whom?
