The most fascinating fact about life is simply Life itself. Most of us in an endeavor to accomplish too many things together forget to actually relish daily life. Many times, our parents ask us to slow down, our teachers or mentors may remind us to be more patient and careful but as children we seldom understand the truth behind it. And then BAAM!! In comes something as strange, as minuscule as a virus that teaches us to take it easy. Really! Did it take something as microscopic as this to appreciate the wonder around us? WOW! Well children today our lives have changed. For better or for worse depends on how we utilize this time. But one thing is certain we can all make the best of our present times. For most of us being confined to home during the lockdown was a first time experience. Moreover, with the lockdown curfew relaxing its hold things are beginning to return to normalcy. The lockdown has given each one of us an opportunity to rediscover ourselves. New ways of learning and educating have come up. Children are enthusiastic about the plethora that these opportunities are beginning to provide, that’s why they are called Inquisitive Cubs. Although we are still in the nascent stage of imparting online skills, the opportunities to grow and progress under its umbrella are manifold. While our parents might still be busy trying to cope up with home and the Work from Home situation, the kids have come up with ingenious methods of remaining positive and productive simultaneously. To make things simpler and enjoyable let’s see if we can imbibe a few of these simple strategies into our lives:
•Follow a routine- I know this sounds cliched but following a routine gives each one of us a sense of security. We all followed a routine during the pre-lockdown phase. Going to school, after school and even when in school a routine gave us predictability and an assurance of what would follow next.Children, make a timetable. Don’t be too harsh or too easy going while making one. Try sticking to it often but once in a while it is alright to just not do anything at all. •Maintain a diary- This may seem slightly difficult initially but once you begin, the thrill of writing your thoughts and ideas, surpasses anything else. You can begin writing on a weekly basis or just an entry about your personal achievements feeling or goals. Having your own personal secret diary seems like an adventure in itself. So, go ahead and just pen those thoughts. You will be amazed at how fascinating it feels once you begin. •Inculcating self-help habits - When I go online today, I am flooded with ideas on how to cook and bake easy, mouth-watering delicacies. Well we can enjoy doing this for a while and it is in fact a unique way of utilizing this precious time. However, it is equally important to become independent in doing your own chores. These involve skills like making your own bed after waking up, learning to make simple breakfast like eggs or porridge, ironing
your own clothes, or even learning to pack a suitcase for a trip. Simple skills like washing your clothes or even drying them can be learnt. These are skills that do not require rocket science logic but if learnt can prove to be extremely beneficial and productive. Go ahead Cubs learn to become independent today. •Learning new skills – Hey Cubs, look around you. Rediscover things, pick up a hobby, play that Casio lying idle for so long. Start doodling. Paint again, play that instrument you have been wanting to. Start singing or dancing. Picking up an activity gives us an opportunity to learn and grow. Remember to enjoy what you do!!! Cubs, being indoors is tough but you have indeed proved that anything is possible with the right attitude and perseverance. Well done kiddos, it is a long way but you understand. You have been resilient and supportive. Your positivity has made this seem easier too. Way to go!!
