No Compromise Being Counter-Cultural
How does your culture define you?Titus 1:10-16 • Ethnicity • Age • Gender • Scholastic • Work • Economic • Religious • Recreational • Moral • Values • Norms
How does Jesus redefine you?Titus 2:1-10 • “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28) • Older men: 2:2 • Older women: 2:3 • Younger women: 2:4-5 • Younger men: 2:6-8
Cultural Shifts need to happen • If what we do and say does not line up with biblical character, we must develop new behaviours • Unscriptural cultural behaviours must be confessed and repented of • Religious practices that are just wrong must be confessed and repented of • Cultural practices like lying, cheating, laziness, overindulgence, must be confessed and repented of
Cultural Shift happens when: • The older men and women line themselves up with the Word of God • When they teach and train younger men and women how to live godly lives • When there is submission to apostolic teaching, and mutual accountability • This is the role of the church • The Church of Jesus Christ ought to be Counter-Cultural • Crete should experience a cultural revolution because Christian churches are present, so should our societies in which we have influence
