After Hitler passed the Enabling Act he wanted to ensure that the German people would stay loyal to him, so he set up policies to keep control of them • One-party government: • All political opponents were arrested; people could only belong to the Nazi party • Terror: • SS, SA and the Gestapo made sure to silence anyone that opposed Hitler by any means necesarry • Propaganda: • People were constantly exposed to media telling them how great Hitler was and how awful his opponents were Nazi control of Germany

Youth: • Boys were taught to be Nazi soldiers and girls were taught how to raise good German families • Workforce: • Hitler eliminated unions in the workplace…workers were paid less and unable to strike • Religion: • Hitler reduced the power of religion in Germany, wanted people to “believe” in him as Germany’s savior • Racism: • Nazis believed in anti-semitism . Jews lost their German citizenship and were not allowed to marry Germans Nazi control of Germany
