Lodge, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, DMR 0212302 Principal Investigator Marc Hillmyer (IRG-1) Description and Significance Using the multifunctional ABC triblock terpolymer depicted as a structure directing agent in the ring-opening metathesis polymerization of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), Dr. Monique Roerdink, a postdoctoral research associate with Hillmyer, has prepared a new, mechanically robust nanoporous membrane containing hydrophilic channels. The high porosity and narrow pore size distribution in these membranes (SEM image shown) render them quite attractive for water purification applications. Supported by UMN MRSEC DMR 0212302 100 nm
