Elizabethan theatre audiences • The theatre was for people of Elizabeth London , histories, tragedies and also comedies were all written by the Great William Shakespeare. The Plays were so popular that people from all walks of life such as lower class , royalty etc came to see the plays. • Days out at the Globe Theatre was an exciting event. The grounds were surrounded by heaps of people, there were a lot of stalls selling different merchandise , refreshments creating a market day effect. How much would they pay to watch a playand where did each social structure sit? • If you were to watch a play in the globe theatre it would only be open to audiences during the summer and was shown during daylight. TheLOWERclass would pay 1 penny to stand in the globe theatre. TheWEALTHY people would pay to sit in the galleries often using cushions for comfort, RICH nobles would watch the play from a chair set on the side of the globe itself. • Men and Women attended the plays , but often women would wear masks to disguise their identity. The audience capacity was over 1500 people and this amount increased to 3000 when people mingling outside the grounds. Who attended the plays and what was the capacity?

It was important that Elizabethan Food prepared for the nobility, especially for feasts and banquets . They enjoyed a variety of serving methods, colours and various props. Peacocks were used , their feathers were used to decorate cooked foods.
