  3. How can UALR benefit from the shelter • UALR can become a pioneer in setting a shelter for there students. • This will also get more students at UALR by showing that the campus really cares for the well being of its students. • UALR will increase its student population and graduation rate.

  4. Counter argument • The shelter next to UALR is a unsafe place for students to go. • The price of building a shelter for college students. • The safety of the shelter • The cost for keeping the building up and running.

  5. What we have to say about all of that. • The money that UALR will put into this building can all be a tax write off. • The man power and manager ability manage the building will all be done by students and providing a few more jobs for staff to manage the students. • The safety of the shelter will be enforced with strict guidelines that will be updated every semester with the constant change in schooling.

  6. How can the students benefit from the shelter • -Giving less forchanet students a home. • –Students can get community service hours. • –Math students can learn the real-world book keeping. • –Construction majors can build the building and keep it maintained. • There is something for all the different majors at the UALR campus.

  7. What do you think when you see this?

  8. Why a poster • What does all this mean? The sock the planner the blanket the pillow the book bag A dirty car or someone who is living out of there car while going to college at UALR.

  9. How did we get that? -The tinted window provided the concept of “ you only see what is on the outside.” -The mess was to show that someone was living in their car. -The planner was to specifically target UALR. - With these elements we tried to establish the concept of the homeless student.

  10. Brochure • Homeless helpers uses a very specific set of pictures to portray, Tony is a scruffy person because of were he lives. • Frank is a young college student who is trying to make it on his own. • -Showing we are not as we seem

  11. How the brochure works • In making the brochure we was targeting the general public. • The small game with who is homeless. • The put yourself in my shoes on the back. • The empty person on the front. • We used these specific type of pictures so that you can see from a homeless persons point of view.

  12. Summary • In closing the Homeless Helpers just wants you to think about this investment to help the future minds of UALR. • The invisible homeless will never have a exact number.
