  2. SLED-II+ Non-3dB directional couplers such as those designed for 8-Pack Phase 2 power distribution can be used for combining unequal powers. SLED-II unit delay customized directional coupler The first N-1 time bins are sent to the SLED-II, with the N-1th bin phase-flipped. The resulting compressed pulse is then delayed, to be combined BPC-style with the lower power Nth time bin that gets sent the other way.

  3. Comparison for Lossless Systems SLED II SLED II + BPC

  4. Sequential Bin Stacking Customized ratio directional couplers can also be used for sequential time bin stacking that isn’t binary, i.e. (non-B)PC. Here the compression ratio is limited by the number of alternate paths in which the power can be directed, and so, for a passive system, cannot exceed the number of sources. unit delay N=4 used for illustration. For N=4, BPC is simpler. One might use this technique for N=3, with a load on the fourth path.. 1:1 unit delay 1:2 unit delay 1:3 As with BPC, the amount of delay required is N-1, but N needn’t be a power of 2.
