  2. While we are going into the 21st century, the industrial are well developed. Both of the industry and human activities are affecting the environment of many animals and plants. On the other hand, many people killing some valuable animals and taking some parts of their body for sale, this made the animals become extinct. They are selfish and cool-blood! Although the conservation bodies paid lots of effort to save these animals and plants, but it cannot stop them. So, I wanted to use this project to wake this people with the concept of the “environment-protection”. Introduction

  3. Introduction In this, you can find some brief introduction of some animals and plants that facing extinct. You may know the following things from the introduction: 1.the name of the animals or plants; 2.the characteristics of it; 3.the major cause(s) that made it become extinct; 4.the number of it in the earth; 5.the history of it; 6.when will it become extinct, and; 7.the picture(s) of it. You may see its photo carefully to get further details of it. In the last few page of this project, I have made a table that show you the kinds of animals that being protected by the Hong Kong law.

  4. Covering Story ~TigerIn the past 60 years, there have eight species in the earth, three of them have became extinct. The Schwarz became extinct first in the 1950’s, then in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the ‘Illiger’ and ‘Temminch’ were also became extinct.At this moment, the tigers reproduce by the humans can carry out reproduction themselves, so, the other five species of tigers will not be extinct on the skillful way except the ‘Wild South China’, the experts determined that they will extinct before 2010. They thought that there have only 20-30 of this species of tiger in the earth. Their environment are decreasing as well as being killed by the hunters, so their chance of survival are being menaced.

  5. Tiger In some districts, although the circumstance of tigers’ are being killed are aware by the public but tigers’ are have to facing other difficult of survival. As to satisfied the needed of fuels, food and cultivation lands after the population increased, it caused many habitats of tigers’ decreased, it made the tigers’ go to the environment of humans’. Finally, it caused serious effects in many sides. At present, the have only 5000-7000 tigers remained in the earth. As the damaging of the tiger’ habitats and the being killed of them, they may become extinct in the future. So, the India government used the “project of tigers’ protection” to save the lives of tigers. From 1990, the number of tigers started increasing.

  6. Tiger The illegal sale of tiger is also one of the major causes of tigers’ facing extinct. Although the sale of tiger’s bodies is illegal in many countries, but in China as well as many countries still have this kinds of trading. One thing you must surprise is the sale of tiger’s bodies are satisfied with the law in Japan and the United States of America.

  7. China White DolphinChina White Dolphins’ is facing extinct. Although they have lived in oceans for thousand years, but with the problems of over-fishing and polluted by many poison chemicals, the number of them have became declining. They are determined became extinct in oceans within 5 years.

  8. The habitat of Pandas’You should know that Panda is one kind of animals that protect by the law as it facing extinct. They are most living in the protection area in Sichuan province in China. The value of them can be compare with the “flying dragons”. The following pictures give you more knowledge about them.

  9. The Coral reef and coral-fish“The field trip of Coral reef in 1997” proved the fact that most of the coral reef in oceans have been damaged. It also know that the causes of this damaging deal to the method of fishing and the ocean pollution.Coral reef is one of the most valuable natural resources, is a place have many chemicals that have not been exploited, it is also a resource for fish and human food.

  10. The Coral reef and coral-fish • In the past, the fishes active near the coral reef, now a day, they are disappeared. In most of the field trip destination, it only found some small fish.The cause of this damaging are the method of fishing-cyanide and bomb, over fishing, bottom fishing as well as water pollution, etc. Although the governments of many country countries use many laws and practicing many protection, the coral reef and coral fish are also facing extinct.The number of eating fishes shows the level of environment damaging. The 11 kinds of coral fishes in Hong Kong, it only found two of them, the related experts believed that the other 9 have been extinct.

  11. Wildlife ginseng facing extinct in North AmericaThe Asian favorite-Wildlife Ginseng is also become favorite in North America gradually. If the USA still has no law to protect the Wildlife Ginseng and their habitat, the number of them will decline gradually, and causing the Wildlife Ginseng cannot satisfy the need in the world.The North America Life trading research committee declared a result that have researched for a year in the may, 2000. It said that the Wildlife Ginseng may damage by the damaged environment as well as the over-exploiting, it caused the Wildlife Ginseng became extinct.

  13. Penguin • In the recent years, the air in the earth has been polluted and caused the global warming. The North and South pole were affected firstly. The Penguin lived in there are facing difficult environment. To save them, we hope that the public can notice this urgently problem.

  14. RhinoceroticlaeThe earliest Rhinoceroticlae appeared in 3 mega years ago. They have under many changes and become the largest mammals on land. In the recent 20 years, the hunters killed the Rhinoceroticlae and take their horns to earn a great interest. Luckily, the International set up a set of protection rule to protect their chance of survival.

  15. Amphibians Amphibians, is the largest family in the Reptiles, has about 3700species. They can live in any places except the sea and the North Pole. The largest can have a very large body; Smallest can have a 2cm body. Most of the Amphibians have a long tail, 4 legs and each of their legs have 5 fingers, but some are special to match their habitat.In the recent years, many people buy some Amphibians from the market and give them go back to the natural. Their motion is good, but it naturally made them have a large pain, the Amphibians became death and extinct.

  16. Amphibians The following shows a green Amphibians, is on species of Amphibians, they keep their body temperature by the sun and their own activities. They use many time to have sunbath under the sunlight. In the nighttime, as the decrease of their body temperature, their activities became very slow. They can go into the sea that more than 11m to find seaweed for food.

  17. Dugongicle dugonDugongicle dugon is a relative of elephant, all have a pair of long teeth. They are distribute in Red Sea, East Coast in Africa, the western part in Australia and in the eastern part of Indian Sea, they are also appeared in the sea coast and sea in the Tropical and Sub-tropical district. The Dugongicle dugon baby have a 1m long body, and with a 20kg weight, but after the growth, they can have a 3m long boy with a 360kg weight. They can go into the sea with no respiration within 8 minutes. They use seaweed as their food and can have a 70-year-old life.

  18. Dugongicle dugon Dugongicle dugon usually life itself, they also seldom join together in a place. The meat of them are similar to pig meat, so they are one of the targets of hunter, their oil and skin are also very attractive, too. In the other way, many Dugongicle dugon are dead by the trapped of fish net. “The natural protection committee” also arrange Dugongicle dugon as one kind of the animals facing extinct.

  19. Turtle (Cheloniidae)Turtle is a kind of Reptiles’ that having more than few mega years history, as they have undergone many changes, this caused many species of them became extinct. As the China Government notice of this great problem, it started a protection area in Gongdong. It is used to save, protect and research Turtle. I hoped that the setting up o this area can save the lives of the Turtle that facing extinct.

  20. Pantholops hodgsoni The protection of Pantholops hodsoni started in 1980’s. According to the “Treaty of wildlife animals protection in China”, Pantholops hodsoni was arranged as the ‘first- class-protected animals’; In the other treaty-“Treaty of Trading Extinct Animals”, it is also the animals’ that can not buy and sale. Unluckily, the illegal catching is still savage, it made the number of them became declining.The other name of Pantholops hodsoni is called “Shahtoosh, the wool on their body which is the best wool of all kinds of animals. After the knowing of this wool of the westerner, they started to kill the Pantholops hodsoni and take their wool. This wool are valuable, one scarf made of their wool costs $2000-3000USD. This made many Pantholops hodsoni being killed. In the 1992, about 12000 Pantholops hodsoni were killed.

  21. Casmerodius albusThe Casmerodius albus are facing extinct. In Taiwan, they have to facing the cold weather, and the major causes of them being extinct are the air and water polluted their habitat. Although the researching experts move them to a more suitable place for them to live, but this project did not achieved the goals, this made many Casmerodius albus facing extinct.

  22. WhalesWhales had appeared earlier than human appeared more than 10000 thousand years. It is one of the smartest animals’.Whales is one kind of Mammals, with a beautiful body. They have no hair, keeping warm by its fat.Whale can be separated into two kinds-with teeth(eg. Sea Whale and Tiger Whale) and with no teeth.(eg. Blue Whale). They both take the small sea animals as food after its filtration. As Whales need oxygen to do respiration, so they sometimes go to the sea surface. When Whales swimming, their tails move upward and downward. As the human carry out whaling to earn an income, 21species of Whales were arranged in the list of animals’ facing extinct.

DolphinMany people have a wrong believe that Dolphin is the same as Whale, but according to the “Treaty of Extinct Animals Protection”, Dolphins is different species with Whales.In the other sides, China White Dolphin is also different from Dolphin. If you observe them carefully, they have many differences. The following picture with the China White Dolphin shown on the page before can help you to classify them.

  24. ElephantLong Teeth, big ears, large nose, and is one of the most powerful animals’. It is the largest Mammals on land, It is also one of the earliest animals’. They are especially strong and smart.Elephant can be classified into two-Africa Elephant and Asia (India) Elephant. Africa’s Elephant body and ears are larger than Asia Elephant. A male Africa Elephant can have 3mheight and 5.4ton weight. Their nose can move downward and upward to take the food from the tree. Its nose can also use to attract water, smell and say ‘Hi’ with others.The extinct of Elephant is due to its valuable nose. The hunter killed them and only take this part of their body to earn a attractive income, this made them become extinct.

  25. StrigiformesMost of the Strigiformes finding their food at nighttime, we can not find them in daytime. Strigiformes can be classify into 133species. They are many living in the tropical forest. As the needed of fuel wood, the deforestation taking place, this made them have no habitat and become extinct.

  26. CrocodilianAlthough Crocodilian can live in any environment, take anything for food, but merchants are selfish, killed them and sale their meat, it made them become extinct.We can classify Crocodilian into two genus: Crocodilian and Short Mouth Crocodilian, there have 14species of Crocodilian and 7species of South Mouth Crocodilian.

  27. ConclusionAfter seeing this project, you must have a more concept of the environment protection. You may noticed that Human activities is one of the major factors that causing the animals and plants become extinct. We have no right to damage their habitat, but we have a duty to conserve them, e.g. Stop air and water pollution, use less product made of their bodies, etc.If we continue to destroy them, we could not have a perfect ecological environment for us to study, to enjoy the products made of them as well as reduce the interest in our environment. Since the environment are share with us, so we must started to protect our environment firstly by ourselves!
