SESSION OBJECTIVES • By the end of this session, you will be adept in: • How to explain the significant elements that need consideration while interpreting Body Language • Identifying the signals being send by yours and others body language • Employ this information to improve your understanding and your communication style

  3. MAJOR PROBLEMS Interpreting the signals send out: What exactly is he trying to say? (non-verbally) Am I understanding correctly what he wants? Am I aware of what he wants? I think I may be unbalanced in my understanding. Attitudinal misinterpretation: Did I misread his behavior?

  4. THE C’s of COMMUNICATION

  5. GESTURES • All the gestures must be observed in groups to derive an accurate picture of person being observed • Each gesture is like a judgment • The sum total of postures and gestures is a story in itself

  13. HAND TO FACE GESTURES When children are small and tell a lie, their hands fly over their mouth A teenager might “refine” this inherent gesture by simply bringing tips of fingers to the mouth An adult may bring the little finger to edge of mouth
