Who is a Carer? A Carer is a person whose life is restricted through choosing to look after a relative or friend who is physically or mentally ill – or simply frail.
Background Information • Late 1990s - SAVS identified a gap in the local Voluntary Sector market • 1999 - Southend Carers Forum launched • Supported by Southend B C and the NHS • Registered charity • Limited company by guarantee
