We aim to: • Help build confidence by assisting people to make contact with their community, make friends and access training and employment • Help people feel safer by reducing anti-social behaviour • Prevent homelessness • Meet the housing support needs of people of different cultures, communities and disabilities • Complement existing statutory services so that public funding goes further

Our strategic priorities for 2007/8 are to: • Increase the level of floating support services funded through the programme: so that people can receive support where ever they live. • Increase the level of services for the socially excluded funded through the programme: this means increasing services for people who don’t want or cannot access statutory services, but still have a support need. • Improve service quality, performance and effectiveness: ensure that current services get better at what they do • Improve access, referral and exclusion arrangements for services: ensure that existing services are more accessible to all who need them. • Establishing Steady State contract arrangements: Save money and improve quality by negotiating new contracts with all providers. • Implement Audit Commission recommendations: We have just been inspected by the Audit Commission and we now have 34 recommendations to implement and we aim to do this by October 2007.
