The Proficiencies • Our preparation is driven by the SBEC proficiencies and the language utilized. This will provide important clues during the exam sessions. • You are encouraged to use SBEC’s study guide. • Group/ individual (?) questions need to address the proficiencies. • Sort the proficiencies: Test yourselves
Cohort I Suggestions • Go through review, inc. district packets early. • Practice developing questions & answers in groups; ensure validity. • Focus on quality, not quantity; incorporate language of competencies. • Group writing & editing of questions following each session (Caskey, Albritton, other presenters). • Provide explanation for each question. • Utilize articles and other reading assignments to help in question development. • Pace question-writing over time. • Critique questions prior to loading into test.
Preparation Is The Key! • If we… • consider the applicability of each assignment to the proficiencies; • digest the language of the test, keeping the proficiencies in mind • analyze each question and answer, considering all the data… …then we will pass the TExES!
