  1. Internet and Distance Education Delivery Verdan St. Aimie EDU697 Capstone Dr. Keith Pressey September 30, 2013

  2. Instructional Design is defined as “a systematic process that is employed to develop education and training programs in a consistent and reliable fashion” (Reiser & Dempsey, 2007).

  3. This gives the learner different options to learn based on their learning ability. In order words develop an education or training program that can be flexible and modified based on the individual learner.

  4. When developing your lesson, consider your audience, media integration, different ways of presenting information, and how your students will be engaged by your activity.

  5. A lesson accomplishes a complete learner goal. Lessons can vary in length and can include voice, video, animation, and more. In order to determine what is needed to complete a lesson plan you must conduct a needs assessment to create the perfect lesson.

  6. To perform the needs assessment these important question must be address by the teacher. What the learner knows? What do you want the learner to know?

  7. What are you trying to measure, determine, or define? How will you collect and record information. How will you report the information you collect? Are all interested groups included in planning and conducting the needs assessment?

  8. I complete this assignment of each student that can read and record the information by having the students read about each job they are interested in, prepare the KWL chart and compile all of the information on a chart.

  9. I would then have them summarize their KWL in a journal or verbally making the appropriate connection between the questions they had prior and the new knowledge after the written assignment, and what they have learned.

  10. I used Job as a topic because we are discussing this in our class at the present time. Vocabulary is limited so I used an easy topic. I performed this assessment on two students in the classroom.

  11. We looked at pictures of Firemen, visited a Fire station via video and looked at the equipment Fireman wears. They know about jobs and different kinds of jobs. We looked it up and they read the information . about how to be a fireman.

  12. They learned the difference from performing a service or being a producer. They learned they must do well in school and complete their schooling.

  13. I used the K-W-L (Ogle, 1986) for this assignment. We used this in my classroom but modified for the autistic students. K-W-L is an instrumental reading strategy that is used to guide students through a text.

  14. Students begin by brainstorming everything they know about a topic. This information is recorded in the k column of K-W-L chart.

  15. Students then generate a list of question about what they want to know about the topic. These questions are listed in the W column of the chart.

  16. During or after reading, students answer the questions that are in the W column. This new information that they have learned is recorded in the L column of the K-W-L Chart.

  17. Jobs What I knowWhat I want to KnowWhat I learned Kinds of Jobs like a How do I get a Job I learned to get a job as a Fireman, Policeman firefighter. I must finish school. I have to wear a uniform, learn to drive a fire truck. Firemen also performs a service This is also called procedure is also called Declarative. Knowledge.
