Wind Side of the E6-B • Step 1 Place grommet over 100 (grommet is circle in center of the window) • Step 2 Align Wind Direction with True Index • Step 3 Place Wind Dot up from grommet • Step 4 Align True Index with True Track • Step 5 Place Wind Dot over True Airspeed • Step 6 View Wind Correction Angle under Wind Dot • Step 7 Read Ground Speed under grommet
Step 1 Place grommet over 100 • Place circle in the center of window over 100.
Step 2 Align wind Direction with True Index • Place wind direction across from true index. • Wind direction in this example is 050°.
Step 3 Place Wind Dot up from grommet • Place a dot upward from grommet measuring wind strength. • In this example, the wind is 20 knots.
Step 4 Align True Index with True Track • Place TT across from true index. • In this example, the TT is 190°.
Step 5 Place Wind Dot over True Airspeed • Place Wind Dot over True Airspeed. • In this example, the True Airspeed is 106 Knots.
Step 6 View Wind Correction Angle under Wind Dot • View WCA under Wind Dot. • The Wind Dot is 8° to the left. • Therefore, you subtract WCA from TT. • Drift Left Var East • Drift Right Var West
Step 7 Read Ground Speed under grommet • Read ground speed under grommet • In this example, the ground speed is 120 knots.
Applying the Information From the Flight Computer This chart will assist you in applying the information from the flight computer. The numbers for the chart above will either be given or calculated from the flight computer. Let’s try to complete the chart. Good Luck!
