What Exactly is Wind? • Wind is solely “air in motion.” • It is caused by the irregular heating of the Earth’s surface by the sun. • Air above land heats up more quickly then the air above water.
When the heated air rises, the cool heavier air rushes in, taking its place and creates wind.
Wind Power • Today wind is mainly used to generate electricity! • Example: Wind Turbines

Our Classroom Wind Chime You Need: 5 White strings 4 Straws 3 Jingle Bells 1 Pipe Cleaner
Lesson Modification • Gifted Students: Work with plain paper cups and have the students decorate them with marker, paint and or tissue paper. • Special Needs Students: They will pick out their favorite beads to work with and have a teachers aid to help put them on the string and tie the knots.
