Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  9. Scientific/technical achievements and their impact (2/4) Key principles to ensure an inclusive approach: • Ensure value for money, fair incentives and returns • Ensure sustainable innovation and growth of the Helix Nebula Initiative • Enable integration of public e-Infrastructures and commercial cloud service providers effectively and efficiently • Manage and retain the identity and brand of Helix Nebula • Continuously manage compliance with EU jurisdiction and legislation to avoid risks • Ensure inclusion of all stakeholders and a fair balance of their needs and interests • Ensure alignment with the Digital Agenda for Europe, foster coherence, equitability and inclusiveness • Ensure transparency, openness and responsiveness • Ensure accountability and liability of stakeholders and decision makers Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  10. Scientific/technical achievements and their impact (3/4) • Europe benefits from an extensive marketplace of publicly-funded e-Infrastructures and commercial cloud services, but stakeholders have trouble navigating the numerous advisory bodies and policy-making projects. • User communities are not sufficiently involved and have trouble identifying cost-effective solutions among existing public-commercial solutions. Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  11. Scientific/technical achievements and their impact (4/4) • The broker or marketplace business model needs to provide neutrality towards and open access for providers: • safeguarding uptake and availability • A User Forum and Scientific & Policy Advisory for regularly consulting and aligning of activities with existing needs should be established. • Maintain a balance between users and providers in Management functions. Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  12. Deliverables and Milestones – Period 2 Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  13. Exploitation and use of foreground (1/2) • Governance framework needs to provide a balance of rules and processes to establish strong leadership, enable result-oriented decision-making, and render the user and stakeholder communities with the flexibility required to grow and diversify. • Ideal framework would take the form of a large public-private marketplace comprising public sector stakeholders able to engage into business calls on innovative approaches. Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  14. Exploitation and use of foreground (2/2) • An updated governance model – based on feedback and findings - is currently being drafted and discussed to be implemented until End of 2014. • for both Initiative and established Marketplace (HNX) • Master Service Agreements have been made available to accelerate the procurement process. • EGI.eu and GÉANT have started to adopt several aspects to provide hybrid public-commercial cloud services for their communities. Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems

  15. Collaboration with other beneficiaries • CSA for dissemination and engagement activities (WP2) • EGI.eu for integration aspects with e-Infrastructures (WP6) • SAP for business model and procurement aspects (WP7) • EMBL for roadmap and development plan (WP9) Jurry de la Mar – T-Systems
