Plate Scanning, Processing, and Compression Status Amy Rosenberg 7th Annual GSC-II Meeting
Scanning Machines • Gamma I being used to scan 2 plates per day • Gamma II still suffering from unknown problems
Currently Scanning • IS plates • 86% complete • XO plates • being scanned between shipments of IS plates • 38% complete
GSC-II Plate Processing Status • IS, XI, and some XO plates currently being processed • IS survey is 44% complete • XI survey is 34% complete • XO survey is 2% complete • going slower due to loss of Fabrizia!
GSC-II Plate Processing Status • No global recalibrations have been performed recently • A few plates have needed updating • All processed data now has the latest astrometry and photometry applied • IV N (IS and XI) plates have not been loaded into the COMPASS database • This processed data has been written to tape and will be loaded at a later date
Currently Compressing • XI Survey • 83% complete • XO Survey • 10% complete • IS Survey • 78% complete
Status of DSS Data Migration • All DSS-I, DQVS, and DSS-II data to be moved to a raid array • will eventually serve a web page interface • All of DSS-I and DQVS migrated • Problems in migrating data • migration of DSS-II has been put on hold while technical issues are sorted out
Currently Available DSS Data • Data being served to web page via a CD jukebox • jukebox and web page maintained by Archive Branch • DSS-I, DQVS, and only part of DSS-II currently available online • All headers completed, but not currently available online
Future Activities • Complete scanning, processing, and compression of XI, XO, and IS surveys • Limited by telescope availability to complete observations • Completion of DSS data migration and header availability • Load all processed data onto COMPASS • Perform any recalibration tasks to all data on the database side • Operational goals may need to be scaled back due to staffing and resource issues
