Horticulture Innovative Projects Best Practices Banana production increased from 18,730 MT (Yr 2004-05) to 6.11 Lakh MT (2016-17) • Robotics in Grafting Technology for Vegetable Grafting (Front line demonstration under MIDH) • Range of indigenous plant varieties which are resistant to nematodes and diseases are used as root stock for grafting • Grafted plants shows 25% extra growth and are tolerant to insect pest problems • Even growth of grafted plants 100% of tissue cultured banana cultivation is being done in Chhattisgarh. 5 tissue culture labs established. 2 1 1 4 Through Seedling unit- 6.56 Cr Seedling produced through 23 (4 big, 19 small) Promoting Rooftop gardening and kitchen garden by distributing vegetable growing kits 6 Green Chilly production increased from 59,044 MT (Yr 2004-05) to 2.65 Lakh MT (2016-17 3 • Promoting Nutritional Gardens at district level hostels through MGNREGA • Availability of fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables for students • Awareness building on horticulture crops 5 Mulching method adopted in more than 1 lakh hectare (Subsidy support provided to 59,725 Hac) 2

Under MIDH • Promotion of ‘Nutritional Garden Scheme’ in various government premises like hospitals, hostels, schools etc. • Project costing upto INR 25 Lakh should be optional to credit linked back- ended subsidy • Rhizomatic Spices like ginger and turmeric should be increased from INR 30000/ Hac to INR 1,80,000/ Hac as planting material cost is too high • Current tractor specification: Upto 20 BHP should be increased to Upto 45 BHP in same assistance pattern • New components like a) Community Chain- link Fencing b) Community Tube well with Submersible Pump (Solar Tech.) c) Small Solar Cold Storage d) Seedling production unit • For stacking of dragon fruit 50% of costs to be added • VTP courses for Gardeners, Landscaping, Vermi- Compost, Organic Farming, Vegetable and fruit Cultivation etc. is already registered in MukhyaMantri Kaushal VikasYojana. These registered VTPs should be permitted to provide skill development training.
