Chronos Final Presentation What 2 Do? Michael Murphy, Gwynneth Davidoff, Jing Li, Michael Sullivan
Problem Statement • Many people have difficulties in finding activities to do in new, or even old places.
Solution Overview • Create a decision engine for phones that enables people to easily discover new places that may interest them.
Personas • Joan Regular: 22 year old frequent city goer. • Jackson Freshmeat: 18 year old new to the city. • Mr. Smith: 29 year old travels to different cities.
Scenarios • Find an Activity • Joan would find new activities • Mr. Smith would find locations and activities that he knew he liked • Jackson would find activities based on interests and experience new things • Set Up a Profile • As it turns out, this wasn’t very different for the different personas.
Initial Interface Design • Activities you like • Activities near you now • Changeable interests • Help you get to new locations
Unimplemented Changes • Coding experience not up to par for full android feel • Include sliders for preferences • Include a little more backend set-up (of the program around these pages) • Carousel
Usability Test Version 1.2 Version 1.0
Major Changes • As a result of our feedback, we decided to change the main page layout to have the preferences on the bottom • Symmetry • Near You Now = random events • Personalized Activities
Take-Away Lessons • Work early, work often • Carefully consider horizontal vs. vertical development. We were caught up in implementing many things that were not HFID related, while the interesting HFID concepts fell to the wayside. • Users have difficulty portraying what they really want, and even if we know what we are talking about, make sure the users do too. • Be careful about choosing your prototyping tool.
