  1. Victor Hugo Wrote seven plays, countless poems, books, and multiple other forms of writings.

  2. Life • Born in Besançonin 1802 • His parents were divorced; his mother raised him. • He attended Lycée Louis-le Grand in Paris when he was 13. It was then he realized his literary calling. • He was married to a woman named Adèle Foucher. • He wrote The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1831 • It wasn’t until his later life that he became involved in politics. • He died May 22nd, 1885 in Paris.

  3. Exile • Victor Hugo spent 19 years in exile. • Hugo was in exile because of the French coup of 1851. • He spent three of those years on the island of Jersey. For the rest of the time he spent on the island of Guernsey. • He wrote many political poems while on the islands.
